|
Your Best Journey to
Professional Development…

|
|
The award office trains a growing number of
assessors every year. Over the last three years
more than 150 assessors were trained to the
highest level of competence. Conducted jointly
through collaborative work between the SKEA
office and international centres specialized in
the field of assessors’ training, closely
related with the European Foundation for Quality
Management (EFQM) and the British Quality
Foundation (BQF).
The award assessors are drawn from different
organisations in all sectors of the economy, all
from senior and middle management levels.
Applicant need to have at least 10-15 year
working experience, five of which in managerial
capacity. Managers from different disciplines
are encouraged to apply, especially finance,
human resources, strategic
planning, social corporate
responsibility, information technology,
training, in addition to quality and business
excellence.
Applicants must allow at least 3-4 days to take
the training as well as to work in a team of
senior assessors to assess a real organisation.
This requires preliminary meetings and 1-2 days
site visit, plus additional time to meet to
discuss the score and the feedback report.
Managing time and being a team player are some
of the key criteria for the making of a high
calibre assessors.
Excellent assessors learn as much as they give
the assessment process. However, given this is
mainly a self-development programme, some
employers may not be able to budget for the time
employees take to undergo
this exercise properly. Hence, it is in the
applicant’s best interest to be prepared to take
few days off work if required to avoid working
under pressure. Experience show that good
assessors need to be in the SKEA cycle for 3
years to muster the full understanding of the
excellence model and skills required to lead a
team to conduct assessments.
To apply, you need to complete a form and attend
an initial qualifying interview before being
admitted to attend a 3-day training workshop,
organized in collaboration with the British
Quality Foundation (BQF)or the (EFQM). At the
end of the training and upon successful
completion of the training, the candidates will
be invited to work with a team of senior
assessors in the forthcoming cycle of the Award.
At the end of the cycle, assessors are formally
recognized as Assessors of ‘Sheikh Khalifa
Excellence Award’ and are offered a certificate
from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce to that
effect. Another certificate accredited by the
British Quality Foundation (BQF) and/or the
(EFQM) will also be offered. Such recognition
gives the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award
Assessors’ the recognition and credibility
needed to maintain the rigorousness and
professionalism and reputation of the award’s
assessment process.
Assessors of SKEA will be entitled for
additional privileges, such as free invites
throughout the year to attend many of the SKEA
events, seminars, conferences as well as the
final ceremony. |
